About Gio

Many who knew him considered Giorgi Tukhashvili one of the best people in Georgia, and he had been described as “a light of the world”. He had an amazing positive energy that made people around him happier and more loving. He was a devout student and observant of Orthodox Christianity and the loving husband of Tamuna Nishnianidze and father of 4 children.

He was cofounder and CEO of Kernel, a startup working to help microentrepreneurs in India and the Gloal South. He was co-director of Startup Grind Tbilisi and was known around the world in the Startup Grind family for his character and accomplishments such as organizing a 2000-person conference in Georgia which inspired a generation of startuppers and attracted dozens of Silicon Valley leaders.

He had a deep compassion for youth and spent a lot of his time as a mentor, trainer, and leader of the YES Georgia youth entrepreneurship program.

He was known for his passionate and wise mentorship for startup founders but also on topics of personal and spiritual development.

He died unexpectedly at 35 and his work in the world was far from done. We encourage to learn about Gio, and help continue his work in the world perpetually.
